MUYS SNIJDERs
Muys started her career at Christie's in the Client Advisory department advising Ultra High Net Worth buyers on their art acquisitions before moving to the seller side of the business joining the Estates, Appraisals & Valuations department overseeing large appraisals, stately home and collection sales. In 2009, Muys was appointed a Director of the firm and took on her first significant management role in the UK Chairman's office, leading its business development team successfully to a strong recovery after the economic downturn in 2007/8.
From London, she moved to New York in 2012 to join the Post War & Contemporary Art department to launch Christie's Private Sales demonstrating exceptional growth, innovation and change leadership. Subsequently, she rose to be one of the youngest Senior Vice Presidents of the company managing all of the Post War & Contemporary Art business for Christie's Globally as Business and Private Sales Director. In 2014, she was promoted to Global Head of Client Strategy & Sales, a new role in which she oversaw the sourcing and sales of all Post War & Contemporary sales, over 45 auctions annually, as well as all private sales and e-commerce. Muys was instrumental in developing a client-centric approach, placing clients' objectives at the forefront of the divisions activities. She was also part of the executive team driving the expansion into the middle-market and other geographical growth markets, China specifically. In 2016 Muys joined the Christie's Presidents office as Managing Director, Americas. In this role, she was responsible for all aspects of the business and senior client relationships, leading the regional sales force across Canada, USA, Latin and South America as well as the New York based Chairman's office, Client Advisory, Estates, Appraisals & Valuations, Museum Services, Restitution Services, Corporate Collections and Art Wealth Management Services. She defined strategies that drove incremental revenue. Oversaw budgets, defined business and client development goals, allocated resources, set individual sales targets and managed the groups performance and contribution to the firm.
From Christie's, Muys moved to the boutique auction house Bonhams where she ran the Post War & Contemporary Art and Fine Art division across the Americas with a special focus on fostering client relationships and deal-making, whilst serving on the US Board and working closely with Private Equity Firm Epiris to strengthen their sales and position in the US middle market.
In 2021, Muys was appointed as the Head of Art Services at American International Group, Inc. (NYSE:AIG) (now Private Client Select) where she is responsible for the risk management of their insured private clients' Fine art, Jewerlry, Wine, Watches, Design, Cars and Collectibles portfolio.
